Glendale Medical Office Building

This 6-story University Medical Office Building contains 150,000 square feet of medical office space providing an ambulatory surgery center, endoscopy center, cancer center, radiation therapy, outpatient imaging, a retail pharmacy and clinic space accommodating orthopedics, surgery, urology and other multispecialty clinic uses. The design provides a dynamic
cantilevered 4-story volume over the main building entry and generous public outdoor spaces with landscape that lead into a dramatic double height entry lobby. Additionally, a large 3-story courtyard space on the 4 th level provides a central volume with shared outdoor landscape areas and allows natural light to penetrate deep into the building.

Each of the facades of the building have generous amounts of glazing, taking advantage of diffuse daylighting from the
northern exposure and providing varied vertical louvers to filter strong eastern and western sunlight. By utilizing these natural daylighting techniques, both common areas as well as the interior medical office spaces can reduce the need for artificial lighting. These generous outdoor spaces with natural landscaping allow patients, visitors & staff opportunity for public interaction and relaxation.

The high performance medical office spaces utilize a universal grid system that allows increased flexibility for a larger variety of multispecialty uses and the ability to incorporate on/off stage pods. The layout of these pods provide groups of exam rooms with a centralized core work area for providers and care teams. These pods are universal and designed to be used by a wide variety of specialists and primary care providers.

The design incorporates many sustainable design strategies and will be seeking LEED certification.
